Getty Images and WWE have officially teamed up in a groundbreaking partnership that makes Getty Images the exclusive worldwide photographic licensing partner for all WWE content.
Announced on Monday, this new deal gives Getty Images the rights to distribute and license high-quality images from WWE’s top programming—including Monday Night Raw, SmackDown, and NXT—as well as premium live events like WrestleMania.
The agreement also grants fans, media outlets, and businesses access to WWE’s rich photo archives, including never-before-released images dating back to the 1980s.
“We are excited to partner with WWE to deliver high-quality coverage of WWE’s programming and events to fans and audiences across the globe via our world-class distribution platform,” said Michael Heiman, Vice President of Global Sport at Getty Images.
While this partnership enhances access to WWE imagery through gettyimages.com, it could have implications for content creators, news sites, and bloggers. Most will now need to pay licensing fees to use WWE photos legally, potentially increasing the use of AI-generated imagery, fan-made artwork, or screenshots from broadcasts.
Getty Images currently partners with over 125 of the world’s leading sports organizations—including FIFA, the NBA, NFL, UFC, and Formula 1—and covers more than 50,000 sporting events annually. This new WWE collaboration strengthens its position as a dominant force in global sports photography.
